Testing The Green Gripper

Green Grippers: A Year of Rigorous Testing

Green Grippers underwent a comprehensive testing process to ensure their effectiveness and durability. Over the course of a year, we developed and tested 20 different beta models, each incorporating unique design elements and materials. These models were subjected to a variety of tests, including traction evaluations, durability assessments, and user feedback.

3D Printing Innovation

The 3D printing process allowed for rapid prototyping and iterative design changes. Throughout the year, we experimented with different materials, textures, and tread patterns, refining the Green Grippers' design to optimize performance. This iterative approach led to the development of the Original and Heavy Green Gripper Models, each tailored to meet specific lawn conditions and many mower wheels.

Real-World Testing

To simulate real-world usage, we conducted extensive field testing across a 16,800 square foot yard. This testing ground featured a diverse range of terrain, including hills, sand, Saint Augustine grass roots from eight different trees, and ditches. Our goal was to subject the Green Grippers to the most challenging conditions possible.

Weekly Cutting Cycles

For over a year, the Green Grippers were put through their paces with weekly cutting cycles. This rigorous testing regimen allowed us to evaluate their performance in various weather conditions, grass heights, and terrain types. We closely monitored traction, durability, and overall effectiveness during each cutting session.

Key Testing Areas and Observations:

  • Hill Climbing: Green Grippers consistently demonstrated superior traction on slopes, preventing slippage and ensuring safe and efficient mowing.
  • Sand Traversal: The attachments excelled in sandy conditions, providing excellent grip and preventing the mower from getting stuck.
  • Root Impact Testing: Green Grippers were subjected to rigorous testing to assess their ability to withstand impacts from tree roots. We intentionally ran the mower directly over and across exposed roots, simulating real-world scenarios where roots may be partially buried or protruding above the ground. The Green Grippers demonstrated exceptional durability, effectively absorbing the impact and minimizing damage to both the mower and the root system. This testing highlighted the Green Grippers' resilience and ability to withstand the challenges posed by uneven terrain and root-filled lawns.
  • Wet Grass Conditions: The attachments maintained traction on wet grass, preventing wheelspin and ensuring a clean cut.
  • Durability and Longevity: Green Grippers demonstrated exceptional durability, resisting wear and tear even under the most demanding conditions. To further test their resilience, we subjected the wheels to sidewalks and walkways, simulating the impact of curbs and uneven surfaces. Additionally, we ran the Green Grippers down 300 feet of roadway each week, subjecting the right wheel to constant contact with the pavement. Despite this rigorous testing, we observed no noticeable difference in wear and tear compared to the normal lifespan of wheel attachments with deep treads. This demonstrates Green Grippers' ability to withstand the challenges of everyday use, maintaining their performance and durability over time.

Through this rigorous testing process, we were able to identify the optimal design features and materials for Green Grippers. The Original and Heavy Green Gripper Models represent the culmination of our research and development efforts, offering exceptional traction and durability for a wide range of lawn mower applications.
